My Mother has been Transferred to Oregon!
I
have some very good news that I'd like to share with all of you! In
September my mother applied to the interstate compact division in
Iowa to be transferred to a prison facility in Oregon.
I
am very happy to announce that her transfer has been officially approved.
My mom was transferred to Oregon in February. She is now just 4 hours away from me and
only 1 ½ hours away from her youngest son.
My mother hasn't seen either of her sons in about 16 years. What a family
reunion this IS going to make! Our first visit is schedule for March
1st. Her transfer IS the next best thing
to my mom being released from prison. Given
that her sentence is life without parole, my mom and I decided that we should go
forward with the possibility of a transfer to Oregon.
I will never give up trying to get her released, but if she must remain
in prison at least she will be close enough that I can visit her fairly
often.
Transfers are rarely granted, so I feel very fortunate that they have approved it. I would like to extend my deepest thanks and appreciation to those who helped me raise the money for my mom's transfer. I will never be able to thank you enough for what you have done. You have given me a tremendous gift by helping me to reunite my family.
